About Us

Welcome to the Ashford (Kent) Arts Society. (A.K.A.S)

The A.K.A.S. is a charitable organisation that was founded in 1958.
Our Society now boasts an impressive membership of over 100 artists who express themselves through a variety of media including oils, pastels, acrylics and other forms of art such as sculpture and photography.

Our organisation is a succesful one having the support of many of our Borough Councillors as patrons or interested freinds. Indeed, the Mayor and a group of Councillors are regular visitors to our exhibitions which are also covered by local newspapers.

Our members meet on a monthly basis for lectures, talks and demonstrations on a wide variety of subjects, including traditional and modern art.
Two major exhibitions are held each year, one in Spring and the other in Autumn in which our members choose to exhibit their works and sell them to the public.
The society produces work for sale to aid a variety of trusts in the local area, these include the Ashford Hospice and amongst others, the Paula Carr trust.
We are actively campaigning for show space in the proposed new exhibition centre to be built in Ashford.

The public support for the Society is part of our pleasure in welcoming several thousand visitors to our show each year, and you can now sample the experience through this, our website.
